Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family
Epping Uniting Church is a group of people who want to be the best people they can be by exploring what it means to follow the Way of Jesus and to live out that exploration by caring for one another and the community in which we live.
The Uniting Church came together on 22 June 1977 when most congregations of the Methodist Church of Australasia, about two thirds of the Presbyterian Church of Australia and almost all the churches of the Congregational Union of Australia came together under the Basis of Union. The Uniting Church is home to about 250,000 members made up of 2,000 congregations who are worshipping each weekend. Epping Uniting Church is one of those congregations!
Just recently our congregation gathered to try to figure out our direction in a changing community when many people are unfamiliar with the story of Jesus and what the church is on about. We decided that in addition to supporting our current activities, including Macquarie University Chaplaincy, hospitality to the elderly and a theatre group called, “Theatre on Chester”, we would look for ways to build bridges with the wider community. We think this will be a great way to serve the people of Epping.
